Role: Executive Consultant - Airport Information Management System - CONOPS
Incheon Airport has maintained a robust growth streak of 6% on annual average since its opening, rising to become the second-biggest in terms of cargo volume and the eighth-biggest in terms of passenger volume worldwide.
Beating the cynics who expected that the construction funding structure of Incheon Airport that financed 60% of the construction cost of KRW 5.6 trillion on its own rather than relied on government funding would keep Incheon Airport in continuous deficit, Incheon Airport began to post net gain of KRW170 billion on annual average for 7 straight years from the 4th anniversary which was 2004 to 2010 and turned financially sound, bringing down the debt ratio from 166% in the initial years to 69% as of the end of 2010.
Furthermore, Incheon Airport achieved the world’s highest integrity and safety of air navigation
system by running the air navigation safety facilities for 80,000 consecutive hours even without a single operational interruption since the opening in March, 2001 and achieved cargo transshipment rate of 50% and passenger transit rate of 18%, becoming the No.1 hub airport of the Northeast Asia in both
appearance and substance.
Shining with the quantitative growth record of Incheon Airport is the recognition of its global service leadership. Among more than 1,700 airports worldwide, Incheon Airport won the Air Service Quality(ASQ) Award also known as the ‘Nobel Prize for Airports’ for 6 years in a row, a splendid accomplishment that has no precedent.
